Ain Kafarhata: Plenty of Natural Spring Water
For many generations, Ain Kafarhata has provided pure drinking water for Kafarhata and the surrounding area all year round. Its natural mineral water has been tested many times and scored high grades in its purity, richness and taste. There was no evidence about the famous "cliché" that it makes you forget more often! (photo by Fares Esber)

Ain Kafarhata got a major face lift thanks to the municipality's hard work. Gone are the ugly broken cement blocks. Everything is now built with beautiful hand carved stones. The ground, walls, ceiling and even the stairs are all covered with elegant stones. The pictures don't really reflect the excellent work but it's truly breathtaking.

These 2 pictures were taken in April 2001 where flowers and trees were in full bloom. Spring is a great season with flowers and fruits all over the village and the fields are full of green almonds, "Aki-Dinyi", "Janarek" ...Yummy! (Pictures by Victoria Sakr)

Wild Collection

Nicolas took a walk on the "wild side" in Kafarhata’s meadows. He encountered an endless variety of dazzling wild flowers that grow every spring and summer in and around those fields. He enjoyed the exceptional scent and surrounding and took a lot of pictures. Here is a couple, enjoy the smell!

Fond memories!

Many of you old-timers are very familiar with this plant, it’s a tobacco plant! Before the war, tobacco was one of the main sources for most Kafarhatians. There was times when all of Kafarhata fields and the surrounding villages were planted with tobacco. Nowadays, you seldom see any tobacco in the whole area.

The political highlight of Summer 2000 in Kafarhata, as in all of Lebanon, was the parliamentary election. Everywhere you go, photo attack was relentless! There wasn’t a single pole, fence, wall, sign or a tree without tens of pictures. Candidates supporters were very creative in finding spaces for all of those photos. When there was no place available, they brought their own stands and posted stand-alone photos as you can see in our picture taken near the school!. Our second picture of a "decorated" telephone pole prompts an intriguing question: How many photos can you hang on a telephone pole?
