Location

Between the lucid blue water of the Mediterranean Sea and the white Cedars mountains of Lebanon, lies Kafarhata, a small but beautiful village situated in Koura casa, North Lebanon.

Crafted midst rocky hills, oak and pine trees and surrounded by olive and fruit fields, Kafarhata is famous for its natural beauty, great weather and loving citizens. Because of its central location between Koura's villages known as Kouayteh, or little strip, and because of its commercial and educational prosperity, this village is considered the capital and the center of Kouayteh.

It is 350 meters above the sea level, 68 km north of Beirut and is only 7 km away from the Mediterranean seacoast.

Community

Kafarhata's population amounts to around 1500 residents and there are thousands more spread out around the world. The village enjoys an active community with its energetic municipality, dynamic Church association, its elementary and middle school as well as Kafarhata high school. Kafarhata's youth meet daily at its social and sport club which includes a large playing field, a stadium, a hall and a gymnasium.
Kafarhata is proud to provide various services for its inhabitants as well as for the inhabitants of the whole region. If it weren't for its 4 clinics, pharmacy, dispensary, central office, restaurant, supermarket, flower shop, fast food restaurants, home goods stores, auto repairs, fashion and pastry shops, gas stations, and other stores, these inhabitants would have to go to the closest town every time they want to fulfill their needs.

People

Kafarhata's citizens are famous for their love for education wherever they are. Since the 19th century, you'll find the Doctor, the Lawyer, the judge as well as a newspaper that was published in Kafarhata as early as 1920! In his book "Kafarhata's History - Its families and monuments" published in 1992, Author Gebran Jabbour - a historian, poet and writer from Kafarhata - lists more than 300 college graduates of doctors, engineers and professionals. Today, this number has greatly increased which positively improved the standard of living and the modernization of the community.
Kafarhata's residents are also known for their fondness to their village and roots. Wherever they live or work, the majority returns regularly for visits and builds attractive houses and villas around town.
The purpose of this site is to serve as a conjunction for Kafarhatians around the world to bring them closer together and to their beloved village, and to share news, pictures and ideas. It also presents the charm of Kafarhata, its people and their aspects of life to the whole world.
